Is The Nun 2 The Best Movie From The Conjuring?

Perhaps one of the most ambitious entries in the Conjuring Universe, this film is not only filled with scares but also “treasure hunts”, demons, love, and a great story.

Please note that if you keep reading, you will encounter spoilers.

The Nun 2 is a remarkable film that combines action, adventure (in the quest for treasure), terror, and emotion, which, for me, is one of the most crucial aspects of a movie. Because if you don’t identify with the characters or the situation, sometimes it’s challenging to enjoy a film, at least in my opinion.

The Conjuring franchise has accustomed us to “typical” horror, where most of the plot happens in a single location. Whether it’s the haunted house, the demonic doll, or the cursed convent. However, this entry takes it a step further, where yes, much of it takes place in the convent. The fact that Sister Irene follows Valak’s murders is a significant plus.

There are plenty of jump scares that fans of classic horror will appreciate.

Still, it also explores new situations in the saga, which, in my opinion, add depth and storytelling. Like in any horror movie, there are situations that are easy to deduce, such as the part with the wine. But others are handled with subtlety, and if not shown, they could be missed.

Every demon or ghost in the Conjuring saga has its own uniqueness, but in my opinion, the Nun as Valak is one of the creepiest and most terrifying. The makeup work is excellent, but I think what stands out the most is her silhouette. The fact that they can place her in paintings in shadows or simply show her silhouette on a wall makes you keep an eye on every dark corner in the movie, and that keeps you at the edge of the sit.

Maurice or Frenchie, as we know him from the first film, continues to impress in this sequel. Not only does it provide continuity to a great character, but it also adds to the franchise’s future plot and story. Remember that this movie is set years before the Warren family or The Conjuring events.

There is a high likelihood of a third chapter in this film, especially given the way the first film ends, where we can observe an exorcism conducted on Frenchie, and also because we see Valak as the Nun in the future, or rather where we see the Warren family.

Vera Farmiga does an incredible job

and we can see that the Farmiga sisters are made for this saga. In my opinion, the next entry in The Conjuring series, they will likely explain how Irene’s story ties in with the Warren family’s. My theory is that somehow the Farmiga sisters share a connection, as in the film, not for nothing, Valak continues storms to the Warren family. Something must have to do with the relics that Valak seeks or something related to the Saint of the blind family.

It’s a good movie; the scares never end, no matter how prepared you are; the jump scares will make you lift off your seat.

Great job by the director Michael Chaves and writers in continuing the Nun’s story. I can’t wait for the third entry and for The Conjuring 4. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. This is a great horror film, probably not the best of the year, thanks to ‘Talk to Me,’ but it’s likely to be in the top 5.
